- Jim (a salesman at Electricraft Stereo Centers with me) and I took a great road trip for about 10 days around the western U.S. in 1978 in his white Honda Civic hatch back.
- This was my first trip ever to California – the land of sunshine, the Beach Boys and beautiful girls!
- We first drove from Seattle to L.A., taking the Pacific Coast Highway and every opportunity that was available to drive along the Pacific coast.
- The California coastline is wild, natural and rugged; we often stopped along the way at scenic overlooks to take in the views.
- The cliffs provided tremendous views – but don’t look down; especially while driving!
- We stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge to take in the ambiance of the entire Bay Area – what an ideal place to live.
- Here’s Alcatraz Island in the distance – blanketed in a foggy, hazy sunshine as the sun attempted to break through.
- We spent a lot of time driving on this trip and didn’t take many pictures along the way – and I don’t have any of Jim…which is generally typical of guys, or after the trip I gave him the ones that he was in.
- The sun finally appeared and I took some more pictures of San Francisco Bay.
- Unfortunately we didn’t have time to stay and explore San Francisco itself, as we had a lot of miles to cover and not much time to do it in.
- Finally, a California beach to celebrate on! The water was too cold to swim in, but the sunshine was fantastic!
- This one beach picture will have to suffice to show that I was actually there on this stretch of California beach.
- My first California beach! Reason enough to celebrate with a cold one I thought at the time…I was having a great time on this road trip – next stop, Las Vegas and The Grand Canyon.
