It is now Christmas 1984, and on my recent trip through the Black Forest I bought a Grandfather Clock in the town of Triberg im Schwarzwald - which also served as a substitute Christmas tree that year in our apartment.

Wintertime in Germany can come early and last a long time - and did - during the years I was at Spangdahlem AB; here I took a picture looking down the street from in front of our apartment in Bruch - note that the house on the left is still unfinished.
