So every year in remembrance of the pig that ate the the turnip which allowed an army to enter through the main city gates, Wittlich holds a Pig Fest to enjoy a giant pig roast and party for everyone - which starts with a ceremonial parade through the city.

The Wittlich Pig Fest or "Säubrennerkirmes" is celebrated every August in Wittlich to recall how a pig ate the turnip that was holding the city gates closed - which led to an army entering the city and destroying it.
These knights await their turn to begin marching in the parade - wasting no time in kicking off the party with their beer tankards in hand.
