I earned the “Top Gun – Top WSO” bombing award in the 52nd TFW as a 1st Lt. I was crewed with another 1st Lt – my pilot “Woody.”
The next year I earned the “Top Gun” bombing award in the 52rd TFW for two individual radar bombing events – again with my crewed pilot “Woody.”
Woody and I had as our “crewed goal” to be the very best F-4E “Warhawk” wingman that we could be.

In 1987 when I was preparing to leave Spangdahlem AB, the 480th FS was to be deactivated and replaced by 22nd FS “red tail” F-16’s – shown in this 52nd TFW photo near a castle called “Hohenzollern” – SSE of Stuttgart, Germany.
