Well it has been two and a half months now, and I’ve only just finished adding all the photo captions from “Spangdahlem AB – Set 29” onward to this point. Adding photos to this blog has been a most unexpected pleasure for me, as taking pictures on all of my travels was always a very big part of my life; and they complement my autobiography, “In Search of the Meaning of Life” that I began writing in January, 1994, as a New Year’s Resolution that year.
A lot of things have happened over the past two and a half months while I have been adding captions to these remaining photos. Summer turned into fall, and we are fast approaching winter and the holidays. My wife and I began a new walking exercise program together, where we walk five miles a day, 5 to 7 times a week – which I never would have believed we could have found the time to do – until we just decided to do it. Zimo made his “Great Warhawk Movie” which turned out to be excellent, and I hope he puts parts of it on YouTube so folks can watch it.
At this point I have posted all of the photos that I took with the 480th TFS “Great Warhawk Nation;” however, there are still many more from the Spangdahlem AB years 1983-1987 that are yet to come. The Spangdahlem photos that I have posted are in no particular order, as most of them didn’t have dates associated with them. The actual sequence really doesn’t matter though, as those years went by at a fast and furious pace – and they all blended into each other anyway.
So now I turn my attention to the next phase of this blog that I call, “Life, Love and the Human Condition.” When I first started posting photos months ago, I decided to enter abbreviated captions instead of using complete sentences. After debating this style variation with myself for some time, I finally did decide to change my mind and switch to using complete sentences for photo captions. Changing one’s mind is always an option in life, and sometimes experiments are tried for awhile – and then altered for a better result. The result of winning this little discussion with myself is that my next task is to go back to “Spangdahlem AB – Set 6” and work my way backwards, converting the abbreviated captions into full sentences. This also gives me a chance to review what was posted earlier and add a point or two along the way. I hope the process is completed by the start of the New Year so I can then continue going forward with new photos into 2010 – only time will tell.
So in the meantime you can monitor my progress if you like, as I convert the abbreviated captions into sentences and bring everything up to the same uniform standard. Then it will be on to new photos, new travels, new adventures and the new life that I’ve had with my wife for the almost 24 years that we’ve been married now. 🙂
