In the summer of 1994, we also had an 18th year “Bike Trip Reunion” with my friend Bruce – who rode with me 8,000 miles around the United States on our first bicycle adventure back in 1976 – here we visited his Bohemian Glass Art shop in Holly, MI.
Bruce works on a stained glass window here at his shop – he was always very artistic and could make anything with his hands – especially beautiful stained glass windows and neon signs.
In many respects neither Bruce or I had changed a bit from the days of our original bike trip together – except I had less hair now – but in other ways we had both followed our own individual interests following our bike trip together – art and aviation.
Here Bruce enjoys a good laugh in his side yard at home – we now both had families and children – and it was fun to reminisce about the old days on the road with our bikes.
Standing in the bright sunshine of his side yard, it seemed like ages ago – and yet only yesterday – that we had set out from his grandmother’s house on the first miles of our bike trip together.
Here Bruce and I stand in front of Bruce’s house with our sons – on a nice opportunity to get together again after many years – and many miles and adventures together on the highways of America.
