In those days when David was growing up, we used to take lots of pictures on Christmas Eve while opening gifts from family and friends – as is the German custom and tradition.
Christmas morning was always reserved for gifts from Santa if he was successful in finding our new address – this would be our only Christmas in Hetzerath – here David has received a Disney Lion King picture for his room.
As every parent knows, the most special part of gift giving at Christmas is the effect it has on the children – and the child in us all.
While David was growing up we always ensured that Christmas was special for him, and later on we transitioned from focusing on gifts to the real meaning of God’s perfect gift of Jesus to all of us.
It was never difficult to find a present to give me as I always enjoyed music CDs – and this looks to be a Bryan Adams CD.
The other easy gift to give me in those days was a video – and this one is of Yosemite National Park.
