The next occasion that I took pictures at was when we were invited for coffee and cake to visit friends of the family – and here David plays a game with their son.
Looking back now 16 years later, this was a calm period in our lives without any major events or issues to deal with.
It helps in life to recognize these calm spells in life and really try to appreciate them during the moment – because we all know that life is sure to change on you – the only question is when.
As for our family we would be moving again nine months later to RAF Mildenhall, so the calm wouldn’t last forever – here David’s grandfather on the right discusses the issues of the day with his friend.
David shows his grandfather what looks to be a toy crane that he made – children need these calm periods in their lives too.
We know that periods of adversity can make us stronger, but too much adversity can knock our lives off course as well – so the periods of calm help us to recover and regain our bearings.
Our friend’s wife was an excellent hostess – always baking wonderful cakes and ensuring that her guests were well cared for – which helps ease everyone’s stress in life when they are well looked after.
Here I am, no worse for the wear it seems and in good spirits – and this visit to see long time friends of the family was a nice relaxing break from the normal routine of the day.
