In July 1995 a friend – who was my original sponsor in the 23rd TFS at Spangdahlem AB in 1983 – visited us in Germany on a trip to visit friends, and here David talks to his family back in Washington State.
David was growing up quickly, and at 8 years old was becoming a fine young man – and starting to chart his own future a little bit at a time.
David visits with our friend – David’s Godfather – in the living room during his visit, which was a good opportunity for everyone to catch up since the early 1980’s flying F-4E’s.
David’s Godfather started his AF career as a WSO (Navigator), and later transitioned to the Air National Guard flying F-4s and earned his pilot’s license to become an airline pilot.
I pose with my original sponsor from the 23rd TFS at Spangdahlem AB back in 1983 – and now he was an airline pilot who flew with the Air National Guard while I was in the 52nd OSS at Spangdahlem AB.
It was a nice chance to catch up and visit for an afternoon before our friend continued his visit to see more friends – and I was beginning the home stretch of my second assignment to Spangdahlem AB.
