We spent a day in Cambridge, focusing primarily on the colleges of Cambridge University – this is the Bridge of Sighs over the River Cam at St. John’s College.
We visited many of the colleges around Cambridge University, and only St. John’s College allowed us inside to look around the New Court, while most were closed off – here’s another view of the Bridge of Sighs.
So most all of my pictures were taken at St. John’s College and downtown before I ran out of film, especially here at the Bridge of Sighs over the River Cam.
David and I squint into the sun while posing in front of the Bridge of Sighs, while touring St. John’s College and Cambridge University.
I took this photo to get the flowers growing alongside the River Cam into the picture, because I thought the pink daisies were beautiful in front of the Bridge of Sighs.
This is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Cambridge, or Round Church, that dates back to the year 1130.
The River Cam winds its way through Cambridge and Cambridge University, where the most famous pastime for students and tourists alike is punting on the River Cam.
Punting on the River Cam is a beautiful image of the peaceful nature of sightseeing throughout Cambridge and Cambridge University, on a beautiful English day.
David an I pose against a storefront pillar, pausing for a moment from our sightseeing, in front of a Barbour clothing sign in Cambridge: http://www.barbour.com/
Laura Ashley was my wife’s favorite store when we lived in England, and here is a photo of the Laura Ashley storefront in Cambridge, England.
I cropped the previous photo of the Laura Ashley storefront to focus here on the architecture of the half-timbered building, the woodwork and the two Laura Ashley signs.
We came across this bagpipe player on a Cambridge street corner, and loved the contrast of the historic nature of the Scottish bagpiper alongside modern day student life.
David posed beside our Scottish friend as he continued to play the bagpipes, while leaning against David’s shoulder – which provided him with the perfect armrest!
A street band plays for everyone that passes by in downtown Cambridge, a wonderfully scenic town and a photographer’s delight!
