Original Song – “Little Darlin'” (Version II)

Little Darlin’ is about trying to right wrongs in life and tells the story of a guy who wants to make amends and apologize to his true love.  He’s sorry for what he’s done in the past and realizes he may never receive the forgiveness he so wants to hear from her as he sings, “I’ve been looking, For a way, To say that I’m sorry, For the things, That I’ve said, And I’ve done, Can’t expect you, To ever, Forgive me, ‘Cause I’ve made, Some mistakes, I regret…”   We never learn what his mistakes actually were, we only hear his remorse and professed love for her, and never know if she accepted his song as an apology or if she ever forgave him for his actions.  We’ve all found ourselves in these positions in our lives, both after realizing we’ve made mistakes and when people have wronged us.  The song speaks to us individually through our personal experiences as we reminisce about our own dilemmas of seeking and extending forgiveness.  May we all be quick to apologize and forgive as well – for life is too short and precious to be lived any other way…

I recorded my original song “Little Darlin'” on Set One in 1996, at the very beginning of my musical journey of making demo tapes, and it speaks to apologizing for one’s mistakes and seeking/extending forgiveness. Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

As with all of my early songs during which I worked with my friend Gordon Olvera, I’ve shared the copyright with him for trying to give voice to my songs.  Also, emailed versions of these songs lose their chord alignment and formatting, so refer to the original post and/or the scanned lyric sheet as your guide.

  1. Mark,

So beautiful as we have all ‘had regrets’ at one point or made ‘mistakes’, so it is very easy to get wrapped up in this song and feel his pain of wanting to right what he feels is something wronged.

A beautiful song once again. Thank you … it won’t be long before I have an entire 12hr radio show in my brain on WMDJ 😉

God Bless you, your sister in Christ,

    Jade

  2. Jade,

Your WMDJ Radio channel is too precious for words! ♥ 🙂 Thank you so much! I’ll keep posting songs as long as I have more to post – and at this rate, I’ll be at it for a very long time! Thank you for your support and encouragement, Jade!

I hope you’re recovering well! Music has healing properties and I’m hoping that WMDJ Radio can help you fully recover – to one day sing again, Jade!

    Love in Christ,

    Mark

    • Mark,

You are welcome, I felt those were pretty accurate call letters for my radio station. ♥ I am happy that you will be posting songs for a very long time, it helps me greatly.

I am trying to listen to my doctors. However, yesterday I was thrown a curve ball, had a gran mal seizure, and ended up in the ER. They didn’t think keeping me would do any good for me so they gave me an injection for the migraine I got hitting my head on my desk.God help me I want some control for these seizures.

I am determined to play my guitar and sing again. I can still sing however my throat closes quite frequently so they are going to start Botox treatments to my vocal chords to stop the swelling I have in them. You, David and myself will be together in one place and we will praise God with your songs together someday. It will be here on this earth, I pray, as I want to meet both of you so much.

      With Love in Christ,

      Jade

  3. Jade,

I’m so sorry for your setback and I continue to pray for your recovery. God bless you and your family and may we indeed have that opportunity to bring these songs of mine to life one day on WMDJ!

    Love in Christ! ♥ 🙂

    • Please don’t be sorry, every experience I get through is nothing compared to what Christ did for me. I do appreciate your Prayers greatly for both myself & my family. It is hard for them, as they are afraid. So, I told them something my father once told me: “Fear and Faith are the same thing, they are both knowing something is going to happen. Fear is the negative outcome and Faith leads us to a positive outcome.” I have tried to instill that in my family. They can be stubborn at times however I feel that they are, maybe, getting the idea a bit now.

Know that you are in my prayers and we will DEFINITELY have bring these songs to life on WMDJ! 🙂 ♥

      Your Sister in Christ,

      Jade
Sending much love and prayers 🙂

  4. Jade,

That’s a good way of looking at both sides of the coin! Keep up the faith and continue the process of healing, recovering and regaining your strength!

Blessings, prayers & love in Christ!

    Mark
