Original Song – “Reflections”

“Reflections” is an introspective song I wrote about the dreams of our youth and the realization at some point that our lives may have taken a detour somewhere along the way, and perhaps the person we are today is not at all the person we always wanted to be.  There are many reasons our lives may have turned out differently than how we believed they would when we were younger and idealistic, but one of the reasons may have been we simply became complacent and allowed circumstances to pull us blindly along the path of least resistance – instead of defining who we are and who we choose to be – and then working to become that person.  The song asks “When you look in the mirror, What do you see, Are you the person, You always wanted to be” and then encourages us, saying “Reflections in a mirror, What do you see, You can still be that person, You always wanted to be.”

~~~~~~~~~~
“Reflections” is a song from Set 2 of my recordings in 1996, and speaks of looking into the mirror and deciding to finally become the person you always wanted to be. The first words of the song aren’t recorded clearly and begin with, “How do you feel, In the morning, When you first, Get out of bed…” This song reminds us to never give up on our hopes and dreams ~ even for this songwriter who began his journey of writing songs back in 1989 ~ and only now is sharing them with all of you! Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Simple Man”
Simple Man is a song about the gift of giving and receiving love, and about the undeserved and selfless nature of love itself in its purest sense.  The essence of both giving and receiving love is that it completes us from the inside out, in both cases fulfilling the nature of who we are meant to be.  While few songs are truly autobiographical in that they uses a form of poetry in lyric, rhyme and verse to tell a story, this comes pretty close to describing me just as I am…a simple man, “Baby I’ll never understand, Why you give your love, To such a simple man…”
I recorded my original song “Simple Man” on Set One in 1996 at the beginning of my musical journey of making demo tapes of some of the songs I’d written. It’s a simple little song about love ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Verse One:
Esus4
Baby I never
E
Thought it could be
    G
As good as the love
                 D
That you’ve given to me
Esus4
Baby I’ll never
E
Understand
             G
Why you give your love
              D
To such a simple man
          Esus4
But I’m tellin’ you now
          E
And I’ll tell you again
      G
The love you give
      D
The love you send
Esus4
Gives to me more
        E
Than you’ll ever know
       G
Your love for me
          D
Fills my heart and soul
       G
Your love for me
          D
Fills my heart and soul
Chorus:
          F#m
I never knew
                         E
Love could be like this
          F#m
I never knew
                         E
Love could be like this, oh no
          F#m
I never knew
                         E
Love could be like this
           G
But I’ve found
                    A
That love with you
       G
But I have
                    E
That love with you
Verse Two:
        Esus4
And I hope that someday
        E
I can give to you
         G
All the love in my heart
           D
‘Cause I know it’s true
          Esus4
You’ve given to me
                 E
More than a man deserves
          G
And my love for you
      D
Can only serve
    Esus4
To pay back the debt
            E
That I’ll always owe
              G
When you gave me your love
           D
‘Cause I love you so
    Esus4
So please believe me
          E
When I say to you
    G
I’ll always be there
              D
When you need me to
    G
I’ll always be there
              D
When you need me to
