Original Song – “Need Your Lovin'”

Need Your Lovin’ is short, simple and fun little song that speaks to the power of love to make your heart sing and rejoice in that love.  I wrote this song based on the intro phrase that came to me one day, “She’s my baby she’s the only one…” and I simply finished the thought using a few basic guitar chords: C, G, D and A, “She’s my baby she’s the only one, I’ll never ever love another one, She gives me her love every single day, She’s the one that brightens my day…”

~~~~~~~~~~
“Need Your Lovin'” is a short, little song I recorded as part of Set 4 in 1996, that actually turned out pretty well for this aspiring songwriter at the time. All of my recordings after Set 2 were played on my 12-string acoustic Ovation guitar, which I liked for the clear, fresh sound it produced, and by now I was growing more comfortable with the recording process and playing my own songs! Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Sail Away”
Sail Away is a song about charting our own course through life by using the examples of sailing, driving and walking – leaving our cares behind, following our dreams and seeking happiness in the simple things in life.  Happiness is and always has been a choice that we make in our lives, and part of the equation of happiness comes down to following our hopes and dreams.  We often find that our dreams are not found in the distant realms of the stars and the universe, or in some faraway place on the other side of the world, but in the simple pleasures of life right in our own backyard… “Some day we’ll understand, The dreams we’ve been searching for, Were really nothing more, Than holding hands, Walkin’ with toes in the sand…”
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded my original song “Sail Away” in two takes as demos on Set 10 in 1997, and it speaks to living our dreams, “Come let’s sail away, Set our sails today, We’ll follow the stars, No matter how far…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “One Man” (A Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)

One Man is a song about Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the fact that his dream still lives on in each one of us.  The song recounts Dr. King’s life, dream and his love for his fellow man, while emphasizing the fact that we hold the key to realizing his dream in our day.  The song is meant to be historical, symbolic, introspective and motivational – encouraging us to fulfill Dr. King’s dream through our actions each and every day.  One Man also conveys a sad perspective in reminding us how Dr. King’s brilliant life was so tragically cut short, but then the song finishes on a note of hope: “We hold the key, To the dream, Martin Luther King, Your dream lives on, Your dream lives on…”

I recorded my original song “One Man” as a tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Set One in 1996, and this finishes up my song demos from this first set. The song reminds us that, “We hold the key, To the dream, Martin Luther King, Your dream lives on, Your dream lives on…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “My Life’s Journey”

My Life’s Journey is a song about realizing we need guidance as we go through life – specifically in the areas of patience, courage and wisdom.  It’s God who has called us into being and has a plan and purpose for our lives.  It’s only in living within His will that we can fulfill the meaning and purpose of our lives as he guides us through His hand, light and word.  My wish and prayer is that God would bless and keep you, guide your footsteps as you journey through life and provide you with life in abundance!  “As I travel on my way, Through my life’s journey, Along the path of life, I know your hand guides me, And it’s ‘gonna be alright.”

~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “My Life’s Journey” in two takes on Set 6 in 1996, and as usual the second take turned out the best. The song speaks to the winding path we walk through life, and trusting God to show us the way, “As I travel on my way, Through my life’s journey, Along the path of life, I know your hand guides me, And it’s ‘gonna be alright…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Sixteen Candles”
Sixteen Candles is a contemplative song about the choices we make during the course of our lives.  As we get older, we realize it’s been the choices we’ve made in life that have led us to the point we’re at – for better or for worse – and perhaps if we would have made different choices along the way, our lives would look much differently than they do today.  Sixteen Candles attempts to explain this notion of being careful about the choices we make in life, because each and every choice we make leads to an outcome that may or may not have been expected or desired.  There are no guarantees in life, but the choices we make everyday define our lives, “For life is full of choices, That you make from day to day, Make your choices, Wisely on your way, On your way…”
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded my original song “Sixteen Candles” in two takes on Set 5 in 1996, and they complete this set. The song speaks to the choices we make in life and the importance of choosing wisely along the way, “For your life is full of choices…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Answered The Wind”

Answered The Wind is a rhetorical song where the singer asks his or her soul, the wind, the dark and finally no one at all – questions concerning life and their future. Finally the wind answers back saying “Only time will tell.”  There are always questions about life that we have no answer for and we often flail away trying to find answers to things we can’t know.  I suppose the best response to these questions is always that we’ll never know the answers to some questions in this life, but one day everything will be made known and visible to us for our understanding, “Why is it so, Asked a man to no one at all, Only time will tell, Answered the wind…”

~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “Answered The Wind” on Set Two in 1996, and it speaks to life’s questions about the future and where our lives will take us, “Why is it so, Asked a man to no one at all, Only time will tell, Answered the wind…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
