Music Video – “Copenhagen” by Mark D. Jones

“Copenhagen” is based on my original song by the same name and a visit I made to the City of Copenhagen in about 1985. Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities and the song is based on a daydream about my visit and ‘The Little Mermaid’ statue on Copenhagen’s waterfront. Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “You’re The One”

You’re The One is a very soft, gentle and mellow love song that speaks to thoughts drifting between hearts like golden leaves as they swirl and tumble gently through the air, carried aloft by a soft autumn breeze – or perhaps transported between hearts in the comfort of fluffy clouds across a clear, blue sky.  Daydreams and loving thoughts take on a life of their own, existing outside of time and place…transporting us to other worlds…to a realm where hearts dwell under rainbows and love never dies!  “You’re the one I dream about, When my thoughts drift away, You’re the one I’m missin’, When you’ve gone so far away…”

I recorded “You’re The One” three times on Set 3 back in 1996. Each version presents a slightly different view of this quiet and reflective little love song, and I’ll share all three versions with you today, “You’re the one I dream about, When my thoughts drift away, You’re the one I’m missin’, When you’ve gone so far away…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Love’s Like A Rainbow”

Love’s Like A Rainbow is a heartfelt love song that begins with a familiar marching cadence, “I don’t know, but I’ve been told, Love’s like a rainbow, made of gold, I don’t know, I don’t know…”  Most of the song follows the singer’s lament of being told what love is all about, without having experienced love itself.  At the end of verse three the singer finally falls in love for the first time and expresses a joyful heart,  “I woke up this mornin’ to somethin’ new, And felt the love that I’m feelin’ for you, For you, for you…”

~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “Love’s Like A Rainbow” in three takes on Set 5 in 1996, and I’ll share all three versions with you ~ as they all reflect a moment in this songwriting journey of mine, “I don’t know but I’ve been told, Love’s like a rainbow made of gold, I don’t know, I don’t know…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Copenhagen”
Copenhagen is a dreamy little song of whimsical thoughts and daydreams that carry us away to idyllic gardens in our minds.  The autobiographical component of this song is that I did spend the weekend in Copenhagen with a squadron buddy in about 1985 – flying commercial from Karup Air Base, Denmark, to Copenhagen – including taking the fast ferry to Malmö, Sweden and back on a sleepy Sunday morning before returning via commercial to Karup Air Base. The whimsical, dreamy and romantic portion of this song – and the artistic license of being a songwriter – is the daydream of a girl, represented by The Little Mermaid statue, coming to life in Copenhagen…but alas, the mermaid was only a statue in the end…but the daydream was very nice!  “Copenhagen, city of dreams, In seas so blue, Copenhagen, how I’d like to, Be with you…”
~~~~~~~~~~

I wrote “Copenhagen” in 1990 based on my 3-day visit to Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden, around 1985, and a daydream based on ‘The Little Mermaid’ statue on Copenhagen’s waterfront. This song was vocally challenging for me to sing on Set 6 in 1996, as it covers a very wide range. On the first take my voice broke in a couple of places, however on the second take I made it all the way through after having only missed a few notes in pitch. This song has always been a favorite of mine as the City of Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities I’ve ever visited ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Looking For The Sun”

Looking For The Sun is a little song about how short, fragile and precious life is – and how we often take so much of it for granted as we go through our daily routines.  The truth is, time has its own schedule and doesn’t make adjustments based on our hopes and dreams; and one day we may wake up only to find that we’ve become the masters of our daily schedules without giving ourselves permission to chase our heart’s desires that we’ve held so closely to throughout the years.  The song encourages us to “dream the dreams we used to do…walk again on mountain tops…take the time for quiet walks…laugh and cry and sing” – and then the song suddenly ends – emphasizing how very short and precious life really is.

~~~~~~~~~~
“Looking For The Sun” is a little introspective song that I recorded on Set 6 in 1996 that turned out pretty well on the second take, so I’ll share it with you ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
C                     F
Looking for the sun to shine
         C                 F
When rain is falling all around
  F                    G
I wonder how it could have been
     G
If I would have…
C                           F
Done the things I’d wanted to
       C                              F
And dreamed the dreams I used to do
  F                         G
I sometimes think I should
                G
Go on and try to…
G                   C
Walk again on mountain tops
      G                       C
And take the time for quiet walks
     Am                     D
I’d laugh and cry and sing…
G                           C
Sometimes life goes by too fast
  G                         C
I think that time will always last
        Am                  D
But I never know for sure.
Original Song – “Love Is The Key”
Love Is The Key is another early song of mine, which ponders life, love, dreams and meaning.  It makes the case for never giving up on our dreams and making love the central focus of our lives, “We’ll carry on ’till the end of time, And live our lives in love and find, That we’ll always remember, and never forget, That life is for living, and love is the key…Love is the key for the world.”  My hope and prayer is that we might all one day live in a world of love for all people, “And never forget, That life is for living and love is the key…Love is the key to our hearts!”
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded my original song “Love Is The Key” in two takes on Set 5 in 1996, and it speaks to love being the key to all we do. Take 2 is the better version, but they both reflect my journey, “Why is life so hard to find the answers to, Why is it love that holds the key to all we do, Why do I search for all the dreams I’m reaching for…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
