“Papa” is based on my original song of the same name and an assortment of photographs that I took Out West years ago. It tells the story of a fictional relationship between a singer and his father ~ the man who was never around… Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

The World is a quiet, thoughtful and prayerful song for love, hope and peace to be given a chance to transform the world into the thoughtful, joyful, generous and caring place it should be for everyone. For love, hope and peace form a foundation from which all things can thrive, grow and prosper. Let us all hope and pray that love, hope and peace will one day fill the world, and usher in a brighter and more beautiful tomorrow for everyone, “The world cries out for love, Give love a chance…”
~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “The World” as a demo on Set 15 in 1997, and it completes the set. The intro is a bit rough, but the song speaks to the world crying out for love, hope and peace, “The world cries out for love, Give love a chance…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Smile For Me is a little song about smiles and tears, laughter and sadness, happiness and joy. It’s about choosing to be happy and seeing the sunshine in our lives, wiping the tears away and smiling a little smile today. Happiness is a choice – always has been and always will be – but sometimes it’s hard to see the sunshine streaming into our lives when our eyes are full of tears. It often takes someone to help us wipe our tears away and remind us that it’s a sunny day outside! Only then can we, “Smile a little smile, Smile a little smile for me, Baby wipe your tears away, Baby smile a smile today, Look around it’s a sunny day today!”
~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “Smile For Me” as a demo on Set 14 in 1997, and it completes the set. The song speaks to the emotions of happiness and sadness, “Sometimes we laugh when we cry, Sometimes we cry when we laugh, Do you wonder why…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Still Got The Blues is an earthy song about feelings and emotion, inklings and disconnect, relationships and uncertainty, and of chemistry and discontent. The blues is a very powerful medium to convey the feelings and raw emotion of being down-on-your-luck – of broken relationships, personal loss and wandering down a lonely, dusty road to nowhere in particular. Life often has to take a turn-for-the-worse and hit rock bottom before things start looking up again – because it’s physically impossible once you’ve hit rock bottom to be dragged down any further. This song isn’t autobiographical, but instead tells the story a singer whose relationship doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. While his Baby professes her love for the singer, he doesn’t see it in her actions – which creates a disconnect between his desires for their relationship and his reality – creating a classic context for the blues – love gone wrong… “My Baby says she loves me, But still I’ve got the blues, ‘Cause you know she’s never around…”
~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded “Still Got The Blues” in one take on Set 15 in 1997, and it tells the fictional story of a singer having the blues, because his baby’s never around ~ despite her assurances of loving him. The song starts off slowly and picks up some speed and changes keys between verses in order to tell the singer’s story of heartbreak ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
The World Gently Weeps is a tender and heartfelt song that portrays a world weeping in the darkness over concerns for its suffering people, reminding us that we are our brother’s and sister’s keeper. The song references, “Cries in the darkness, Echoes on the streets, A cold wind is blowin’, The chill runs deep, Children goin’ hungry, People livin’ on the street” as a few of the representative ills that the world weeps over that cry out for warmth, light and love for all people, everywhere. The singer then turns to us, both individually and collectively to plead, “We have to come together, Holding hands in the street, You and I together, United we can defeat, The darkness all around us, And take back the streets, With love for each other, As the world gently weeps…”
~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “The World Gently Weeps” on Set One in 1996, and it speaks of being our brother’s and sister’s keeper to help turn back the darkness and spread light in the world. I missed the first note of the Emin9 chord at the beginning of the song’s lyrics, but it does get better from there ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Papa is a song I wrote that tells the fictitious story of a young person’s difficult relationship with their father. Their father was a drifter who lived a hard life of drinking, gambling and womanizing while neglecting his wife and his family – both emotionally and financially. Despite this rocky and stormy relationship the young person never gives up hope and confirms, “But you know I still loved him so.” The song hits a high point with the young person acknowledging that, “My Papa was a dreamer, And a ladies man, He always had ideas, But never had a plan, He spent his life dreamin’, Gamblin’ his life away, But you know he always dreamed, I’d live my dreams one day, And you know I still love him so.”
~~~~~~~~~~
“Papa” is a song of mine from Set 4 using my acoustic 12-string Ovation guitar, and this song just seemed to nicely click in one take. “Papa” speaks to human fallibility, weakness, good intentions gone wrong, dreams, forgiveness and love within the fictitious setting of a relationship between the singer and his/her father. Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Walkin’ Shoes is a fictional, bluesy little song about a guy whose relationship has just fallen apart, as his girlfriend has left and given him his walkin’ papers, “I was walkin’ down the street just the other day, I was walkin’ with my Baby when I heard her say, Don’t feel bad but I’ve got some news, You better put on your walkin’ shoes, Cause I’m leavin’, Oh I’m ‘a leavin’, And my Baby’s got me singing the blues.” We all go through good times and bad in life and we never know what tomorrow brings us, so all we can try to do is try to be better today than we were yesterday. Always remember, it’s not that we’ve stumbled in life that matters – it’s how we’ve recovered that counts!
~~~~~~~~~~
This is a fun, little original song of mine from Set One that I recorded back in 1996 that turned out pretty well. It’s the fictional story of a guy given his walkin’ papers by his girlfriend ~ he then has to put on his walkin’ shoes and go out into the world and look for a new love ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Lost In Love symbolizes love ‘raining down’ from Heaven in a never-ending shower of love, that continuously replaces the love we give away to one another. All we have to do to ‘accept’ this free shower of love is to open our hearts, and say ‘yes’ to receiving God’s nurturing love. God’s love given to us is pure and true, will never fail or forsake us, and will always nourish our hearts from within. Take a moment and visualize love streaming down all around you from Heaven above…
~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “Lost In Love” in three takes as demos on Set 12 in 1997. Take one is the long version and takes two and three each had a few rough spots, “Love flows from Heaven above, Love grows in those who love, Love is a mystery, To those whose eyes can’t see…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
