Original Song – “Peace Be With You”

Peace Be With You is a gentle, prayerful song intended as a blessing to myself and to others, reminding us of God’s desire to grant us His direction, guidance, blessings, protection, will, plan and peace for our lives.  As we walk this dusty path called life from beginning to end, Jesus offers us His love through grace to bless our lives and bestow on us His gifts – for our benefit, and the benefit of all those who we extend His love to. Ours is a small world that we live in today, and you may just find that the love of Christ working in and through you will touch hearts around the world, “He will take your life where it should go, And He won’t let go, Or let you fall, For the hands of Christ, Can hold all the world, And even you…Peace be with you, Through the Lord, Amen…”

I recorded my original song “Peace Be With You” on Set 13 in 1997, and it personalizes the words Jesus left us with, “Peace be with you.” May God’s peace be with you all! Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Open Your Heart”

Open Your Heart is a soft, gentle and rhythmic song about the nature, essence and wonder of love.  There’s a permeable and diffusive nature about love that allows it to pass into every heart and soul in the world – requiring only an invitation to welcome it in.  A decision to love, while personal, has a far-reaching effect on not only your own life, but also on the world around you.  The nature of love is to be given away, and the essence of that gift multiplies exponentially through other hearts in like manner – flowing like a never-ending river.  Yet, in giving love away, it returns to the giver in greater portions than when first given.  The wonder of love is in its strength and power for something without form or substance, yet in our world nothing holds a greater strength, power or transformative ability – because love is supernatural and divine in nature. For love can pierce the darkest nights, soften the hardest hearts, bring together and mend what was torn apart, and heal what was broken and ailing.  In love, there are no litmus tests, barriers to entrance, degree requirements, examinations, side-by-side comparisons, levels of ability or any previous experience required at all. In fact, love is open to all who choose to love without exception – all that’s needed is a willing desire and the decision to say yes to love, “If you just open up your heart, It will lead, You to people, All around you, Who need the love you hold, If you share it, With each other, You will find it always grows…”

~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “Open Your Heart” as a demo on Set 14 in 1997, and it speaks to opening your heart and sharing your love with the world, “Open your heart, to the world, And your love, will always grow, And you will always know, That you are loved…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Live As One”
Live As One is a similar song to Masquerade in that the singer’s commentary about our world poses an alternative view of how things could be, if the world would only embrace love as a way of life.  In ‘Live As One’ the singer’s one, “Who dreams of a world, that is safe and warm, Who dreams of a day, when all children born, Can grow up to be, who they want to be, And the world can live as one…In love.” In ‘Masquerade’ the singer sang, “Let’s build a world based on love, build a world we can be proud of, instead of a masquerade.”  In either case, the singer pleads for the world to open its eyes and wake up to the possibility of building a world focused first and foremost on loving one another – “If everyone, could only see, That love holds the key, to all we do, That love is the way, in all things we do…Then the world could live as one, In love.”
I recorded my original song “Live As One” as a demo on Set 14 in 1997, and it speaks to the world living together as one, “I look around, at the world I see, I don’t believe, it is only me, Who dreams of a world, that is safe and warm, Who dreams of a world, when all children born…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Merry Christmas”
Merry Christmas is an alternative type of Christmas song.  It isn’t an upbeat ‘candy canes and presents’ Christmas song, but instead looks at the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place – to have a personal relationship with Jesus – the humble babe wrapped in swaddling clothes.   It also speaks to the world waiting for you to help bring the light, love and hope of Christ to them through your relationship with Him.
The unfortunate truth is that the true meaning, message and gift of Christmas has become lost in the modern focus on materialism these days.  Yet the world is full of people in all countries and continents that have been left out of Christmas and the Good News of Jesus Christ.  There is so much to be done in our world and this song reminds us as Christians to, “Go to the world tonight, To bring the people light, For the world waits for you, To bring them the news, Of Christ, tonight, tonight…Merry Christmas…”
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded my original song “Merry Christmas” in two takes on Set 14 in 1997, and I’ll share both of them with you today. It’s another alternative Christmas song of mine that speaks to having a personal relationship with Jesus to bring the light, love and hope of Christ to the world, “Go to the world tonight, To bring the people light, For the world waits for you, To bring them the news, Of Christ, tonight, tonight…Merry Christmas…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Noel”

Noel is the sweetest Christmas song that I’ve written.  To visualize this song, I see and hear a children’s choir singing it in a beautiful Cathedral, with hand-held Christmas bells used throughout the song. The beginning of each verse repeats the word, “Noel” four times in a row – each time changing a few notes in pitch, harmonizing with the others as they echo off of the Cathedral’s walls.  This song uses the innocence of children and the crisp and clear Christmas bells to announce to the world that, “Christ is King, Noel.”  So sit back and close your eyes for a moment and listen with your imagination as the children’s choir sings, “Can you hear the church bells ring?  Noel, Noel.  Can you hear the children sing?  Noel, Noel.”

~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “Noel” on Set 13 in 1997, and it’s a Christmas song that speaks to children ringing in the joy of Christmas. While my performance of “Noel” may be a bit rough, my songs aren’t about me at all. This song in particular is written for a children’s choir in a cathedral ringing Christmas bells and announcing the joy of Christmas to the world, “On Christmas day let children sing, Lifting voices high to Christ our King, Noel, Noel…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Just As I Have Loved You”
Just As I Have Loved You, is derived from the New Testament verse found in John 13:34-35, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (New International Version – Used With Permission)  Some Bible versions use the translation, “Just as I have loved you” in verse 34 – which is what I have used in my song – reminding us that just as Jesus has loved us – we are to love one another.
The reality of Christmas is that while TV portrays the perfect Christmas, the truth is that for every family that has a wonderful Christmas there are many who are left out of Christmas.  For more reasons than can be counted, individuals and families fall through the cracks during the holidays, and don’t experience a, “picture perfect storybook Christmas” filled with the holiday warmth of a loving family, long-time cherished friends and wonderful gift exchanges with those who are near and dear to them.
It is Jesus Christ who reminds us to do what we can to seek out those who would be alone or not participating in Christmas, so we can show them the love of Jesus at Christmas – just as He first loved us.  For Jesus is the meaning of the Christmas season, and He wants our focus to be on going out into the world to love one another, “So go out into the world, With the joy of Christmas Day, And spread the love of Christ, on your way…”
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded my original song “Just As I Have Loved You” on Set 13 in 1997, and it’s an alternative Christmas song that doesn’t focus on all the traditional joys of the Christmas season. It focuses instead on the message Christ carries to us with His birth in Bethlehem, one of loving one another – especially those who don’t know the true meaning of Christmas or aren’t in a position to celebrate it in the traditional sense. “There are people, on Christmas Day, Who are lost, and alone…So go out into the world, With the joy of Christmas Day, And spread the love of Christ, on your way…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Eyes Of A Child”

Eyes Of A Child is a Christmas song of mine that describes the simple joys of Christmas through the eyes of a child.  Every parent sees and experiences the anticipation building in their children during the Christmas season, culminating in their pure joy and delight on Christmas morning!  The song then transitions to recall the memories of Christmases past when we, too, were small children.  So take a moment and step into the wonder and cherished memories of Christmas through the eyes of a child – Merry Christmas to one and all!

~~~~~~~~~~
I recorded my original song “Eyes Of A Child” on Set 13 in 1997, and it’s a Christmas song that speaks to the joy and delight of children at Christmastime. It also recalls the memories of Christmases past, when we, too, were children ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “How Could I Serve Him”
“How Could I Serve Him” is another tender, heartfelt and very personal Christmas song of mine, as I use myself as a template for the main character of the song – in this case a lowly donkey.  Like the donkey I ask, “What could I ever do for God?”  In this case, God found two very important jobs for the donkey to do – and changed his entire perspective of what he was capable of doing for God.  The meaning of the song is that God sees our hearts through and through, and has a perfect plan for our lives and for what He needs us to do!
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded my original song “How Could I Serve Him” on Set 13 in 1997, and it looks at both the first Christmas day and the events of Easter through the eyes of a lowly donkey. We all feel sometimes like a donkey or worse, with nothing to offer anyone let alone to God ~ but He knows our hearts through and through and has a perfect plan for us ~ no matter what we can do! Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Light Of Christ”

Light Of Christ is one of a number of very personal Christmas songs that I’ve written which have affected me and deepened my faith as I put myself in the part of one of the song’s characters – in this case a little shepherd boy – who personally receives the Light of Christ at the foot of the manger in Bethlehem.  Like the little shepherd boy, I have no gift fitting to give the Lord – so I have asked Jesus to give me His light, the Light of Christ – that will always be with me in my life.  The Truth of Jesus shines brightest through the simple perspective of children in their purity and their innocence. May we all adopt childlike hearts, and look at our world through the simple love of a child…as given to us by our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ the Lord.  Amen.

I recorded my original song “Light Of Christ” on Set 13 in 1997, and it’s a Christmas song that looks at the very first Christmas through the eyes of a little shepherd boy. It’s one of a number of personal Christmas songs that I’ve written, as I look back at the events of over 2,000 years ago through the eyes of the characters in my songs ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Glory To God” (Part Two)

While writing Glory To God, I imagined a large choir and a dramatic hymn praising God; with the hymn cascading down like rapids into a waterfall in the verses beginning with the chord of C, and climbing back up again to the top in the verses beginning with the chord of F – rising and falling in a dramatic and thunderous fashion as the lyrics flow down – as if cascading down out of Heaven itself.  So here is the first song that I ever wrote – a Christmas Song – Glory To God:
