Music Video – “Papa” by Mark D. Jones

“Papa” is based on my original song of the same name and an assortment of photographs that I took Out West years ago. It tells the story of a fictional relationship between a singer and his father ~ the man who was never around… Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Music Video – “Copenhagen” by Mark D. Jones

“Copenhagen” is based on my original song by the same name and a visit I made to the City of Copenhagen in about 1985. Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities and the song is based on a daydream about my visit and ‘The Little Mermaid’ statue on Copenhagen’s waterfront. Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Music Video – “Workin’ Man” by Mark D. Jones

“Workin’ Man” is my third music video and uses my original song “Workin’ Man” and photographs that were taken during my 1982 navigator training in the USAF. The pictures are of my parachute training and of my first T-37 “Tweet” flight at Mather AFB, CA ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Music Video – “Children Of Woodstock” by Mark D. Jones

“Children Of Woodstock” is a music video I made today using my original song set to the photographs I took during my solo bicycle adventure from Grand Blanc, Michigan, to Woodstock, Cambridge and Stratford, Ontario, Canada, during Spring Break of 1980 from Michigan State University. I was trying to reach Toronto but the time and weather turned me back before reaching my goal. I used the photos I took of abandoned barns and houses as metaphors for the line out of the song, “Oh children of Woodstock, Where have you all gone…” Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “Need Your Lovin'”

Need Your Lovin’ is short, simple and fun little song that speaks to the power of love to make your heart sing and rejoice in that love.  I wrote this song based on the intro phrase that came to me one day, “She’s my baby she’s the only one…” and I simply finished the thought using a few basic guitar chords: C, G, D and A, “She’s my baby she’s the only one, I’ll never ever love another one, She gives me her love every single day, She’s the one that brightens my day…”

~~~~~~~~~~
“Need Your Lovin'” is a short, little song I recorded as part of Set 4 in 1996, that actually turned out pretty well for this aspiring songwriter at the time. All of my recordings after Set 2 were played on my 12-string acoustic Ovation guitar, which I liked for the clear, fresh sound it produced, and by now I was growing more comfortable with the recording process and playing my own songs! Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “The Lord’s Prayer” (Melody Only)
The Lord’s Prayer is the most precious and powerful prayer of the Bible for Christians, as we take to heart the words Jesus first taught us to pray.  As my songwriting was the result of answered prayer to my heart’s desire to write songs, many of the songs I’ve written reflect both my faith and this blessing given to me that I share with you.  I attempted, in adapting a melody to Christ’s words, to reflect the nature of my own heart – and to this day, even when saying or reading The Lord’s Prayer silently to myself – it is this melody that I hear inside me. The melody is simple and peaceful, gently ebbing and flowing through most of the song, until rising higher towards the last four lines of one of the traditional endings that I’ve included as part of the song’s lyrics.  “Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On Earth, as it is in Heaven…”
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded this song in my very first set of songs I recorded in the mid-1990’s, and struggled with trying to do justice to the song I had written based on the fact that I wasn’t a singer or a performer – and was very nervous trying to sing my songs in front of a single recording engineer – but I wanted to at least give folks an idea of how the melody goes. While my singing is poor in quality and mostly off key, it is a reflection of both my heart and the melody, after all, these songs of mine are not about me.  These songs I’ve written, all 200+, are a reflection of God’s blessing given to me in the moment of my prayer – to His glory alone, are these songs He first gave to me! Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark

Original Song – “23rd Psalm” (Melody Only)

23rd Psalm is a sacred and prayerful song that respectfully places these beautiful words of the Bible into a melody of my own interpretation for this meditative prayer. The words speak beautifully for themselves, so I’ll not add any further commentary, but simply leave you with these words, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want,  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,  He leadeth me beside the still waters,  He restoreth my soul…”

~~~~~~~~~~
This is the melody I wrote for the “23rd Psalm” and recorded on Set One in 1996. Take one is a bit rough, but take two turned out pretty well ~ I’m sharing both versions with you so you can get the feel for the melody ~ enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
Original Song – “Peace Be With You”
Peace Be With You is a gentle, prayerful song intended as a blessing to myself and to others, reminding us of God’s desire to grant us His direction, guidance, blessings, protection, will, plan and peace for our lives.  As we walk this dusty path called life from beginning to end, Jesus offers us His love through grace to bless our lives and bestow on us His gifts – for our benefit, and the benefit of all those who we extend His love to. Ours is a small world that we live in today, and you may just find that the love of Christ working in and through you will touch hearts around the world, “He will take your life where it should go, And He won’t let go, Or let you fall, For the hands of Christ, Can hold all the world, And even you…Peace be with you, Through the Lord, Amen…”
~~~~~~~~~~

I recorded my original song “Peace Be With You” on Set 13 in 1997, and it personalizes the words Jesus left us with, “Peace be with you.” May God’s peace be with you all! Enjoy! ♡ 🙂 Mark
